Therapy for Teens in Chicago

You might be noticing your teen struggling more than usual and feeling unsure how to help. Maybe they seem more anxious, withdrawn, or overwhelmed, or you’re seeing changes in their mood, friendships, school stress, or motivation, and it’s hard to know what’s normal and what’s not. We can help. Grace Therapy provides online teen therapy for families in Chicago, offering evidence-based support from licensed Illinois clinicians.

What to Expect from Teen Therapy

Teen therapy starts by helping your teen feel comfortable and build trust with their therapist. Early sessions focus on getting to know your teen, understanding what they’re dealing with, and making sure the therapist feels like a good fit. With teens, therapy often moves more slowly than it does with adults. Time is spent building rapport through conversation, connection, and meeting your teen where they are before moving into deeper therapeutic work.

How long does it take to see progress?

Progress looks different for every teen. The first step is finding the right therapist, and the second is allowing time to build a relationship. Because trust and comfort are essential, it’s common for progress to happen gradually. Many families begin to notice small changes over time as therapy builds and continues to adjust to their needs.

Do parents participate in the therapy process?

Parental involvement varies based on the teen’s age, needs, and goals. Our therapists encourage open communication with parents and provide guidance on how to support your teen outside of sessions. At the same time, therapy is a space for teens to talk openly and honestly. There are clear boundaries around safety, but within those limits, sessions are designed to give teens a private, supportive place to be heard.

for teens

If things feel stressful or just off...therapy is a place you can talk it through with someone who’s there for you with No0Ooo judgement. You don’t need a big reason. You can talk about school, anxiety, family stuff, relationships, or anything that’s on your mind.

In Illinois, people 12 and older can reach out for therapy on their own. What you talk about is private and doesn’t get shared with anyone unless you say so. We are online, so you can meet from wherever right on your phone.

If you want help, you’re allowed to reach out!!!

P.S. this button above is to reach out to start talk therapy soon. If you need to talk to someone RIGHT NOW because you are not okay, you can call or text 988 if you (or someone you care about) is experiencing a mental health crisis.
