Kar Howard • Clinical Psychotherapist

Masters of Forensic Psychology, LCPC

Welcome. You’re not too much. You’re not too broken. And you’re definitely not alone. Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you—because I don’t believe you’re broken. It’s about creating space to explore the parts of yourself that have been silenced, overwhelmed, or dismissed. You may be holding pain from the past, navigating identity questions, managing high-functioning anxiety, or simply trying to survive in a world that doesn’t always see you clearly. I’m here to help you feel seen, supported, and empowered.

I specialize in working with people who live at the intersections—LGBTQ+ folks, people of color, and individuals navigating life after incarceration or justice system involvement. I offer culturally affirming, identity-affirming therapy grounded in compassion, transparency, and trust. Whether you're exploring your gender or sexuality, healing from trauma, facing relationship challenges, or trying to manage daily stress, you deserve a space that honors your full self.

My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and deeply human. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and somatic practices with a client-centered approach that honors your lived experience. In our work, we may explore emotional regulation, self-compassion, attachment patterns, and ways to build a life that aligns with your values.

As a Black queer therapist, I know how powerful it is to sit across from someone who just gets it. Our sessions will be a space where you don’t have to explain your culture, defend your identity, or minimize your truth. I show up authentically and invite you to do the same—at your own pace. Therapy is not about perfection—it’s about process. If you’re ready to explore yours, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
